Covering Ugly Necklace Display Boards

My friend has a new boutique and lots of these ugly plain necklace displays.  I offered to cover them so they can be used with the few brand new ones she purchased.

First thing is remove the easel back with a utility knife. Easy peasy!

Then trace the shape of the board onto a paper backing that coordinates with the fabric you choose. Cut out the shape a scant smaller than the outline. I used brown paper & a blush pink  for the burlap fabric...any type of heavy paper will work.  Lay the necklace board on your fabric and cut out 2"-2.5" wider than the display.

I also covered the easel back, but it is not necessary.

Lay fabric wrong side up and place board face down and start glueing!   The clothes pins were easier to use than the binder clips. I put small pieces of wax paper I between the clothes pins and burlap so as NOT to glue the wooden pin to the display!

Ta-da!

Now be sure to use ALOT of glue where you removed the easel back.  This will ensure the easel doesn't separate from the paper backing. Don't forget to run a bead of glue around the perimeter of the display.   I used white glue, but hot glue will work too.
Now wait for it to dry, unless you are using fast set or hot glue.

Glue the easel onto the back and let dry.

There you go...so simple and greatly improved!

Atlanta Apparel Market

And here...
Just got back from Atlanta Apparel Mart, yes, drove down during that crazy ice storm, Leon!   I went with a very dear friend that is opening a boutique in our home town.  So many vendors there to choose from.  So lucky he picked me to attend as a buyer with her!   On our way home we stopped at many great antique stores, but this one, Lucille's in Clarksville, TN was by far our favorite!
Love the use of old doors for clothing rack!
And here,

And here too!

We spent 3 hours scouring all the great booths!   If you have time to stop by, it is well worth the time and there is a cafe!   Great salads!

Embellished Key Necklace

Good Sunday morning!  Sorry it's been so long since I've posted.  Summer here in the Midwest is busy, busy.
My good friend Liz, who has an Etsy shop, TrendyLime, gave me wonderful idea using old keys.
I just so happen to have hundreds!  This is just a few of my up-cycled embellished keys!
I added a small rosette to this one!
This one has tons of doodads attached!

Hope you enjoy these little treasures!   I can't wait to wear them!!

Toad-In-A-Hole

Good morning Spring!

I have just the perfect start to the day. Easy and yummy. My Little-Grandma would make these when I was little. A treat! Plus, she would make me a small cup of coffee, just like a big girl! (It was more like cream & sugar with a splash of coffee)

Start with a slice of bread, I like whole wheat. Cut a hole with a biscuit cutter or just use a glass. ( upside down)

Melt real butter in a pan and place your bread in the melted butter, smells yummy already!

I'm allergic to egg yolks so I just use the whites of two eggs, but one egg works perfect. Crack that egg and put it in the hole! That's the toad!...hehe

Cook on medium heat till done, then flip and finish cooking!

Easy, breezy! Kids love it and it's fast & yummy! XoxO

Christmas gift ideas, I need some!

Ok, so it's been a while since I've done any "bloggin", been kinda veggin all summer & fall!!  I really have not been up to anything exciting!  I did find a great purple velvet coat that I'm going to embellish at a thrift store recently.  (Unless I end up recycling the velvet)
I am just not sure what to get everyone on my Holiday shopping list & it's like 2 weeks to Black Friday!!  Any great ideas popping into heads?
The last time I did a Black Friday shopping spree the only thing I came home with was an iron! =P
I love the iron, don't get me wrong, but it just was NOT worth getting up @ 5am to get!!
If you have any ideas on what to get the family this year give me a holler!!

I'm thinking of doing an ornament swap!!  Sounds like fun!

It's Good Old Man Winter is Leaving Indiana!

Finally, Spring is Here!  It is so good to be able to go outside in flip-flops!!  Or "sweet-pops" as a little girl I know loves to say!!
Have you ever noticed how easy they are to put on your feet? No matter if they are a bit large or a bit small they ALWAYS fit!  Why aren't all shoes that easy to put on?  Well, I do have a pair of muck boots that go on that easy! hehe

So sorry for the lack of input!!  It's been like... I don't know.... a year!  Literally!  So much can change in a year's time!  I have not been crafting like a mad woman!  In fact, I have been a lazy slug!  Oh, how it feels good to do nothing!

I will get back to surfing the web for great ideas & fun stuff to do, as well as, get to some rummage sales & thrift stores.   I do miss the rummaging!

Until...not next year I hope!... later pals!!  XoxO, heidi   :o)
